Can I live with my friends?
You may request roommates by selecting them in the housing portal after you sign your lease agreement. You will not be able to gain access to the profile section of the housing portal until your lease agreement is completed. Whenever possible, a mutual roommate request will be honored. If you are interested in gender neutral housing, please reach out to our community.
What is Roommate matching and how does it work?
Roommate matching is the process by which roommates are matched together using roommate profiles. You can utilize our roommate matching service to find one or more roommates, or you can bring all of your own roommates.
What if I don't have anyone specific I want to live with?
When you sign your Lease Agreement, you will complete Resident Profile Form indicating specific information that will help us match you with a roommate. We will place you with another student with similar interests, when possible.
Is Islander Housing co-ed?
Residence hall rooms and apartments with shared bathrooms are assigned as single sex units based on the gender provided through the University's admission application. There are no gender specific buildings or floors, so neighbors may be of any gender. At Momentum Village, students can voluntarily opt into Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH), where residents in an apartment or townhome may be of any gender expression. Gender Inclusive Housing is an option that is affirming and supportive of LGBTQ+, transgender, gender non-conforming, non-binary (TGNC) and ally students. To obtain more information about GIH, please email MomentumVillage@americancampus.com.
I am a Miramar resident, can I transfer to a private room with a private bathroom?
Yes! To begin the transfer request process, email Miramar@AmericanCampus.com with your name, A-number, cell phone number, and the reason for your request. A member of the Miramar staff will reach out to you and review potential options. Please note that spaces are limited and pricing will vary.
